“We are extremely pained to learn the sad demise of India’s former president APJ Abdul Kalam as a big loss. He was a leader who respects the people and lived for his people. Known as a friendly person, who mingles with ordinary people everywhere, has left a rich legacy to the people in India. I have met the humble person thrice before. Despite being as a President, he spoke Tamil. His warm gestures, love and friendliness towards the people, again and again remind that he is irreplaceable.  Concern over the poor people, his affection towards Tamil language and his focus to bring equality among people – these qualities made him to be looked upon as a great man. His death is not only a huge loss for India, but for all. Will Tamil speaking community get another President like him?  This thought certainly lingers in everyone’s mind.  Though he is 84 years old, he worked for youngsters and country’s development till his last breath. We would always cherish his memories. Abdul Kalam is an amazing person with unending love and good qualities. There will be no great leader as him”, said special envoy of infrastructure to India and South Asia, Datuk Seri Utama S Samy Vellu, while conveying his deep condolence to the former President, late APJ Abdul Kalam’s family.
